Behavior Problems
Excitable & Out of Control?
Typically it is the hi strung dog that becomes destructive and have the worst misconduct. Overly excitable & out of control dogs simply need an environment like the NaJu Day Care, which provides the space, friends and freedom that they demand for the fast paced exercise and socialization that they crave.
Nervous & Frightened?
This is a self confidence issue. In this situation we slowly introduce by putting nervous dogs individually between larger groups of active, playing dogs. This exposes them while still letting them feel safe. After a short time the nervous dog’s curiosity will increase and he or she will start cautiously introducing him or herself through the dividing fences. At this point we can put one or two regular day care kids in with the new kid and before you know it they are playing as if they’ve always known each other!
Protective & Aggressive?
Typically once you remove a dog with this type of behavior from its claimed territory, you will find that you now have a dog that fits the “nervous & frightened” category. This signals to us that the underlying problem to the Aggressive behavior is a self confidence issue! The dog’s territorial items are also the security blankets that give the dog the confidence to be aggressive. Dogs with this behavior undergo a much slower introduction process than one that displays only nervousness and fear. Some dogs can be worked out of this negative behavior, though some dogs with aggressive tendencies may never be able to be in group play due to the danger they put themselves and others in. Though aggressive dogs are kept individual, he or she can still benefit and have fun interacting through the dividing fences with the other dogs which can help create a more social dog at home.
